Lucknow Zoo was found in 1921 with the Name "Prince of Wales Zoo". The Zoo has about 430 mammals, 261 birds, 40 reptiles and a total of 97 different species of wild animals. Some prime possessions are the Royal Bengal Tiger, White Tiger, Lion, Wolf, Hoolock Gibbon-you may view a video and sound below, Himalayan Black Bear, Indian Rhinoceros, Black buck, Swamp Deer, Barking Deer, Hog Deer, Asiatic Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Common Otters, Hill Mynahs, Giant Squirrels, Great Pied Hornbill, Golden Pheasant, Silver Pheasant etc. The Zoo is successfully breeding Swamp Deer, Black Buck, Hog Deer and Barking Deer, White Tiger, Indian Wolf and several Pheasants. In addition, A Fish House, Wold House, and Crocodile section have also been introduced besides some most beautiful European Sculptures.
You can travel the whole zoo on a Toy Train by just Rs.10/- only.
For light snacks, acqua water and cold drinks inside Zoo, you can visit Restaurent near Museum however it is little costly. Wash Room facility near main gain is also available.
Entry fee is Rs.20/0 and Rs.25/- on holidays. Extra Tickets for Fish House Wold House (rs.5/- only) and for Museum.
Note: Surprisingly, Zoo remains closed on Monday and Holiday Festival Day.
